Slept in until after 8am today. Paid bills and the left for sunday school at 1145. Gave message/sermon at church today. It was very short. Lunch was a tortilla chip salad dish with a fruit bundt cake for dessert. Cake was not delicious.

Took down front yard christmas decorations & lights. Took about 1 hour. Boxed up lights per Wife's instructions. Will probably take down tree lights & decorations tomorrow night.

Made dinner tonight; short rings & rice w/ vegetables. Short ribs were from this year's steer. Very tough. Should probably cook the in liquid & crock pot next time. Sent text to MLP about it.

Paid master card balance payment today. Should have enough available credit to order  indoor cycle trainer next week or week after. Looking forward to exercising again.

Talked with dad today. He proposed family trivia name be "Tri-Continental" since our family members from 3 different continents. He admitted he's not very creative in coming up with names & labels. I have until 9am tomorrow to come up with an alternative.

Talked with Digger & Digger 2.0 tonight. They're coming here on Friday for the holiday weekend. We'll go have mexican seafood after I finish registration on Saturday at 1pm.

Lenten Fast Post #3

On Saturday, I fasted all day. I did have a breakfast in the morning after sunrise b/c I legitimately felt hungry, so I had 1/2 cup of instant oatmeal, some blueberries, an apple, 3 dates, and a banana. I did not eat again until well after sundown when I got some chicken nuggets and chicken fries from Burger King b/c I was waiting on a locksmith to let me in house b/c I had locked myself out.  Sundays are "feast days" in the Methodist tradition so I had a balanced breakfast and then did not eat until after 7pm, when I had spaghetti, salad, and 4 St. Louis style ribs.  I have eaten nothing today, so I'm very much looking forward to dinner, which I expect will be a roasted potato cubed with carrots, leftover ribs, and a salad. Prior to the breaking of the fast, I will of course offer up a prayer and then break the fast.  All for today.

The COVID Chronicles #39: Hail Storm!

We had about 30 minute hail storm yesterday here in Old Mining Town and it did a number on our vegetable garden. It also knocked out power for about an hour. Wife was home alone and took the video above.  It also did a number on our vegetable garden. Below is a picture of what is left of our volunteer squash plants. It looks like we had one already starting.  Here's what it looked like before: Here's the zucchini plants:  And the beans:  So tonight, I raked up the leaves that were torn off our apricot tree and buried them in the new compost bed. The COVID Chronicles #30: Mother's Day

Yesterday was Mother's Day. Instead of getting together for a meal, we all got together on Zoom for what has become a weekly family chat with my sister and husband in the VA. Wife and I painted the wall opposite our computer with a Mother's Day message and some artwork by Wife, which means that today, and every following day until we paint the wall, I will now have to use a virtual background in my Zoom meetings with students or otherwise. This is supposed to be the last week of the stay at home order for our state. It remains to be seen if it is to be extended again. We're supposed to be able to dine out in restaurants again, but Wife and I are going to maintain our "lockdown mentality" for awhile. I'm still waking up, so all for this morning.
