Back on January 13th, I posted that I weighed 297.7lbs. Well this morning I got on the scale and it spit out the number 291.2. That's a loss of 6.5lbs in 17 days! I've gotten very strict again about eating no carbs or sugars again. I've also started exercising regularly, having done 2 workouts on the spin bike already. I took yesterday off to recover. My goal is 5 workouts per week. I'll post an updated picture on February 13th, along with another status update.
Wife and I had different kind of weekend than we usually have... On Saturday, we were invited to participate in a french game called "petanque" with a group of people who gather each Saturday (and some times Sunday too) to play this game in a small park in old town. Wife knows one of the members from her ceramics classes. During the game, there were several times when I would give my team a/the point, only to have Wife knock my ball out of its place, giving her team the point. After the game finished, we were invited to a group dinner at a house owned by one of the members that will be a rental house for her. Then yesterday, Wife was invited to play again in the same location while I had to sit through a board meeting for our church. Afterward, we were invited to a different member's house for the evening to have another potluck dinner & watch the lunar eclipse last night. We came back around 10:30pm, while the eclipse was on full display, but before moon return

December 26, 2017 One of the things I didn't blog about last year was the effort Wife and I made to change my diet and lower my cholesterol. Last year, Valentine's Day, I had my 1st physical exam since we moved down here to southern Arizona and my blood test came back with a total cholesterol number of 250, which is very high and I was given instructions to avoid the following foods: Fat Sugar Carbs Take a Vitamin D supplement (which I've done sporadically...) I was also told to get 1hr of exercise, 5x per week. So Wife and I developed the following plan: Wife said she would do all of the cooking and that I was only to eat her food. If she found me cheating, she would stop.  Using our tax refund, we purchased a second-hand gym quality spin bike and I worked out on that bike at least 1 hour per day, 4-5 times per week.  I was to come back in 3 months for a re-test.  Well, I complied with those conditions and 3 months later when I went back for a re

There's Light at the end of the Tunnel!

It's Saturday, but I have to work today. During the last week of each registration period, we work extended hours, Mon-Thurs 8am-6pm, regular hours on Fridays, and a 4 hour shift on Saturday; 9am-1pm. We will still be working until 6pm on Monday & Tuesday to assist with any final late registration requests. It's become a tradition for people in my office to bring donuts or bagels or something else on the Saturday before the start of term. I will probably leave a bit early, stop by the local Safeway, and pick up a contribution...maybe donut holes. I've always like donut holes, but I don't eat them any more. It seems like no matter how well I take care of myself during the registration period, by the Friday & Saturday at the end, I'm always on my last nerve. It causes me to feel a level of frustration & animosity toward the final stragglers & procrastinators coming in to register for spring classes.  A former co-worker taught me a motto when I star
Happy New Year! I will do my best to keep up with this blog better this year, just like I did last year. So keep checking back and I try to find a way to focus this blog in the new year....
